Annual Meeting of the Members
Our bylaws require us to hold one annual meeting each year for the members, that being the first Thursday in May at 7:30pm. This is the meeting where you elect at least two directors each year. Every third year we elect three directors to keep the rotation moving, out of a total of seven directors seated on the board at any one time. Directors are "at large" directors, that is they don't have to live in a particular subdivision with the GNW in order to serve, and they represent the entire GNW, not just one subdivision. We do encourage residents from all the subdivisions to donate their time and services by running for the board.

Annual Meeting of the Members The Annual Meeting of the Members will be held at 7:30pm on Thursday, May 5th of this year as required by the Association's bylaws. Director Yelitz was appointed Election Officer by the Board. There will be three positions on the board up for election, with five declared candidates running. Full details of who is running for the Board was in the March issue of the Passages. Award nomination info will be in the April issue of the Passages. The March issue provides BIOs and photos for the five (5) candidates who are running; Lee W. Besing, Janet Doherty, Sigrid D. Long, Joe H. Martinez, and Erika Selvera. This information was mailed with the ballots on March 25th to all homeowners in good standing as of March 20th. One of the important major changes with this year's proxy/ballot is that you MUST designate one of the seven directors to serve as your proxy, if you choose not to vote in person. If you do not choose one of the directors, then the election officer will be assigned your proxy. If you do not want a director to hold your proxy for this meeting, you need to attend and vote in person instead of mailing in your proxy / ballot. May 5, 2005 Annual Meeting of the Members Click Here for Candidate Bios* for all five Candidates in Adobe Acrobat PDF format (211kb file size) (*PDF contains the identical information as what was mailed with the actual proxy / ballot, but with all five candidates properly identified with their photos on the first page. Photos are in color on this PDF file.) The Block Captains of the GNWatch received recognition for their service to the community. Nearly 70 Block Captains volunteer for this program, but not all are shown in this photo since some were not present during the meeting. Pioneer Award presented to Mrs. Zepeda in honor of her husband's (Edgar Zepeda) work in the GNW prior to his passing earlier in 2004. Award presented by Director Ron Lewis. San Antonio District 6 Councilman Enrique Barrera announces a $2,000 scholarship being awarded as a proclamation by the City of San Antonio. Award shown by Chairman Joe H. Martinez. |
