Board Officers

Your Board of Directors is elected to serve three year terms of office. Each year two directors are elected, and every third year, three will be elected.

After the Annual Meeting, the Board meets the following week to elect the Board Chairman and Vice Chairman who will serve for the next year. These offices can be changed at other times in accordance with the bylaws, but traditionally these persons will serve 12 months and then either be replaced or reappointed next year by the current Board members.

For the 2008-2009 term, the Board elected Director Garcia as Chairman and Director Mifflin as Vice Chairman at the May 8th special meeting as provided for in the bylaws.

In 2008, there were three board positions up for election, those shown listed at the right with terms expiring in 2011.

Due to the quorum not being met at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the Members, the remaining directors on the board whos terms did not expire on May 1st, will now meet to select candidates and appoint to fill the three vacancies.

On October 16th, the Board appointed Myrl Britten to the vacant position expiring in 2010, created by the death of Director Guy D. Pucci on 08/19/2008.

On May 20th, the Board appointed Lee Besing, Janet Doherty and Ida Rodkey to the vacant 3 year positions expiring in 2011.

Due to a resignation by a director on May 20th who moved out of the neighborhood, the Board appointed SK Sharma to fill the vacant term on June 19th, position expiring in 2009.

Board Members are unpaid volunteers. They do not receive compensation for their time served as a Director or for any services rendered to the association while serving on the Board. All Directors are residents of the Great Northwest and are required to be a "member in good standing" as defined by our bylaws and articles of incorporation, and to maintain such status in order to serve their term of office. This means they have to pay their full amount of annual assessments and other fees just like any other member.

Your Board of Directors holds two Board meetings each month, plus the occasional special Board meeting as the need arises.

All Board meetings normally start at 7:30pm unless otherwise posted on the Marquee. Most meetings of the Board are open to all members in good standing, and public officials or other interested individuals.

  • The Executive Meeting is held on the first Thursday of the month, except during the month of May (when the Annual Meeting of the Members is held).
  • The Regular Meeting is held on the third Thursday of the month and is open to all members to attend or address the Board on matters of concern to them.

Board meetings are typically held at the Lodge. Members wishing to speak before the Board should sign up prior to the start of the meeting. There will be two colored sign-up sheets, one for "items not on the agenda" and the other for "items on the agenda". If the Board adds a new item to the agenda that wasn't printed on the distributed copy, the Chair will ask the audience if anyone wishes to sign up to speak on any of the added items.

The suggestion box is available for those who wish to bring items to the attention of the board, but do not wish to speak publicly before the board. Some items of a personal or legal nature, may (and will) need to be taken into "closed session" to protect the member or other purpose.
