The View From The Other Side Of The Pool

In keeping with an annual tradition that has spanned 19 years, nearly 75 residents of the Great Northwest, young and young at heart, braved the extreme chill of the Silver Creek pool. Hey this is Texas and 52 degrees is extremely chilly when we are used to pool temperatures in the high 70’s and 80’s. As a crowd of interested family, friends and curious onlookers (mostly wearing jackets) watched the spectacle, swimmers negotiated the length of the pool in numerous heats insuring that everyone wanting the coveted Polar Bear Swim T-Shirt would get their chance to earn it. As is the tradition, following the brisk dip, swimmers headed off to a much warmer environment in the Lodge of the GNW where volunteers served warm beverages and delicious cookies. New Years resolutions would have to wait until after the refreshments were served!
