GNW WatchNew Meeting Time,
Same Day of Month

The GNW Watch has changed it's monthly meetings to start at 6:30pm, on the last Wednesday of the month date, after a survey of active block captains relected a desire to start meetings earlier. Meetings are held in the Silver Creek Lodge, except during October. GNWatch members can sign up to receive email notices as needed when Watch news is available.

GNW Event

GNW CARNIVAL IS COMING - September 6th

The first (perhaps annual?) GNW Carnival will be held on Saturday, September 6th, from 6pm until 10pm, out next to the Silver Creek Soccer Fields. We're bringing a full sized amusement park out to the GNW for us to play on, and you are invited! Final plans are still being updated, but we know we'll have the rides for all ages, not just kiddie rides, plus some live entertainment, affordable food and drinks (not at carnival prices) plus more! We've negotiated a $15 flat rate arm band deal for riding all the rides, all night long, at one low cost!

The event will be open to the general public, and GNW ID's will not be needed for this event.

GNW LUAU IS COMING - September 6th

Luau timeThe annual Adults Only GNW Luau will also be held on Saturday, September 6th, from 8pm until 12pm, at the Silver Creek pool. We'll have an unofficial taste test between three local Mexican restaurants who will be bringing us free food for our event! Kareoke by Frank will be there as well as perhaps other entertainment. You are permitted to bring your own cooler / drinks (BYOB), but the GNW will not be serving alcholic beverages.

The event will NOT be open to the general public, you must be a GNW resident, 21 or older, and GNW ID's will be REQUIRED for this event.

National Night Out

National Night Out - New Date - October 7th

The date of the National Night Out event has been moved by the sponsoring organization to the first Tuesday of October, perhaps in hopes of cooler weather. The City of San Antonio has chosen to observe this change and has adopted the new date. GNW will observe this event on October 7th, so start your planning now, but do't hold it on August 7th like the previous schedule would have called for.

2008 Stickers Needed - GNW ID
To Access ALL GNW Facilities,
Not Just The Pools

THERE IS NO ANNUAL POOL PASS

When each property owner pays their assessment in January, or subsequent to then, you become eligible to update your GNW Photo ID Cards with the 2008 sticker.

If you already have a card, and have already paid your 2008 assessments, bring it in to the office during normal or special office hours to get it updated ASAP in order to be able to continue to enjoy our facilities.

GNW Photo ID cards are provided free of charge to members and their family members living in the GNW. Replacement cards cost $5 for lost cards. Cards may be obtained during normal business hours at the lodge. Must be present in person to have photo taken before card will be issued by the office staff. Old cards (more than 5 years), or cards with faded photos, will be replaced for free so that you can update your photo.

RENTERS CAN GET ID CARDS ALSO

Renters can download this form from our website, or from our office, to have their landlord give them permission to get photo ID cards so they can use our facilities. There is no charge for this service, but the landlord (or property manager) has to authorize it. The link is to a PDF file that can be completed on-line and then printed for your landlord's signature.

NOT SURE IF YOU ARE RESIDING
INSIDE GNW BOUNDARIES?

Download our area maps from this page to look up your street. If you know that you are inside Silver Creek, Timberwilde, Ridge Creek, Stage Coach Crossing, The Commons, Village of the Northwest, or Emerald Valley subdivisions, you are inside our area. If you reside off Meadow Trace, live in a duplex or apartment, the development near the GNW Library & Timberwilde Elementary (not the fenced in area called Timberwilde) then you are NOT inside our boundaries. If your landloard doesn't pay annual assessments to the GNW, you are NOT inside our boundaries and are NOT elegible to get an ID Card.

To get it started, we are offering the chance to list your property for sale or for rent, at No Charge during the remaining 2008 issues. Depending upon the success, this service will be re-evaluated at the end of the year and a charge may be applied for 2009 similar to the current business classified ads. Submission deadline for all ads remains the 15th of the month prior to the next issue. Visit this link www.Greatnorthwest.org to submit your property, or call the office for more details.

All properties submitted for this offer must be inside the GNW boundaries. Please include contact info in the ad, such as phone and email address. We hope to soon have a searchable directory on the website to map the locations of all offered properties to aid in searches by folks wanting to move into the Great Northwest.

311Getting Answers in San Antonio

Got a Complaint about something in the City of San Antonio? Well, they've made it easier for you to report problems. Here are three ways to report problems or find out "stuff" in the City of San Antonio.

Method 1: Use your phone to call 311 and tell them about it. If nobody tells the city about it, then how to you expect them to "fix" it? Visit the 311 web page for more information.

SA Citizen RequestsMethod 2: Visit the City's web site and fill out an on-line report. Very similar to the GNW on-line forms we use on this web site, and very easy to use.

Method 3: Call your City Council Person's field office. The GNW is mostly inside the boundaries of District 6, where Delicia Herrera is the councilwoman at 210-679-6506, but we also have a few hundred homes over in District 7, where Justin Rodriguez is the councilman at 210-733-2723. If you live in Silver Creek, North of Timber Trace (toward Leon Valley direction), you are probably in District 7.
